  1. Smile Try this today when you go out – smile at everyone you see. Yes – even strangers. The more you smile, the more people will smile back at you. Be prepared to be surprised at what comes back to you. You will feel happier and you will be spreading happiness around you.
  2. Use the word “thanks” generously in appreciation Tell all the people in your life how much you appreciate them being there for you. Remember to show your appreciation also for those people who make life so easy for you such as the postman and the road sweeper. Also, tell at least one person today just what you like about them.
  3. Show GratitudeCount your blessings and look at all the amazing things around you. Notice the little things we all take for granted e.g. fresh food available at our doorsteps all year around. Make a list of at least 5 things that you are grateful for in your life. Be happy with what you’ve got – not what you want. Be focused on what is right in your life rather than what is wrong.

  13. Look for Ways of Helping Other PeopleInstead of focussing on yourself all the time and your current life situation change your focus to helping the needy. Checkout the many volunteer opportunities around you – that are dire for help. Look to do anything for others that will be different and that gets you out of your comfort zone at the same time. The need for help is there all year around – and you can be the one to do so now.
  14. When visiting someone always bring them a giftIt doesn’t have to be an expensive gift. Just bring a flower or give them a compliment or even a silent blessing.
  15. Capture moments of silence in meditationIsolate yourself for a few minutes everyday to savour the peace and silence that is within you. Sitting down, relaxed, take in a few deep breaths, and becoming aware as to who you are “I am Peace….” “I am Silence….” “I am Love….” And let these feelings linger within for a few moments.
